Williamsburg sees single disclosed sale as most July deed filings carry no price

The Hampshire County Registry of Deeds recorded 11 Williamsburg property documents between July 3 and Aug. 1, but only six represented actual transfers between buyer and seller, and just one disclosed a sale price. That sale, a condominium at 10 North Main St, Unit 2, sold for $290,000 on July 24, from Scott Arthur to Deborah Lyons -- making it both the period's only priced transaction and, by default, its price range and median. Five other recordings were homestead declarations, an estate tax affidavit and a tax title release rather than sales. Banks were the seller in three of the six property transfers, and the Town of Williamsburg was the buyer in two.
