Williamsburg annual town meeting approves $10.5M budget, passes zoning changes

Williamsburg approves $10.5 million FY2027 budget with strong voter support. The Annual Town Meeting voted unanimously to adopt the $10,473,326 budget under Article 10, incorporating $265,000 from Free Cash to reduce the tax rate and raising $8,274,807 from taxation. Water and sewer enterprise funds totaling $472,079 passed unanimously.

The town funded capital projects including a $91,500 police cruiser, $55,000 library air-conditioning unit, and $53,200 highway tractor from Free Cash reserves. A Specialized Energy Code bylaw regulating building design and greenhouse gas emissions passed by ballot vote 125 to 103 with an effective date of January 1, 2027; an accessory-structures zoning amendment requiring 15-foot setbacks failed narrowly with 117 yes votes to 94 no.
