Select Board · Meeting of February 3, 2026
Williamsburg Select Board approves grants, appointments, and property use at February meeting. Chair Denise Banister's board unanimously approved a $5,700 Massachusetts Cultural Council Local Cultural Council Program grant and authorized the Haydenville Congregational Church to use town parking for an artisan fair June 12-14. Elizabeth Van Iderstine was appointed to the final Town Administrator search committee meeting by a 2-1 vote, with William Sayre opposing; Kevin Ross and Stephen Fifield were confirmed as Building Inspector/Commissioner and Local Inspector.
Police Chief Denise Wickland requested FY27 budget funding for a fourth full-time officer to address coverage gaps caused by injuries, medical procedures, and vacations, and requested approval for a new police cruiser. Recent infrastructure failures at town buildings, frozen radiators at the South Main Street firehouse, ice-dam flooding at Meekins Library, and a cracked copper drain pipe at town offices, highlighted the need to fill the vacant building supervisor position.
