Williamsburg Conservation Commission continues Mill River Greenway hearing. Chair Joe Rogers, Commissioners Melinda McCall and Jim Ayres, and Conservation Agent Kelly Kowal heard testimony on the South Main Street project proposal, which would impact the Riverfront Area with over 3,300 square feet of restoration. VHB representatives Chase Bernier and Christine Champeau presented design plans; PVPC Technical Support Specialist Angela Panaccione flagged concerns that stormwater standards 2, 3, and 4 were not met and that the project lacked compliance calculations and long-term pollution prevention documentation.
Public comment raised questions about fence design, wildlife passage, and stormwater discharge into nearby wetlands. Rogers directed VHB to address stormwater comments, obtain highway department review of the O&M plan, submit a native plantings plan, provide an invasive species control plan, and supply an existing conditions plan. McCall moved to continue; Ayres seconded; motion passed unanimously.
